Woodside Avenue

Private Residence

Location: Beaconsfield

Client: Private Client

Status: Ongoing

This small garden in a delightful semi rural environment had a small and awkward shaped garden that was largely featureless. The client had invested in a fabulous makeover of her kitchen, including the installation of large bifold doors that now opened onto a patio that felt a bit small, and a triangle of bare lawn.

We created a contemporary garden with sculptural elements and controlled areas of planting contained within steel edged planting areas. Small tree planting added the “mid-storey” interest beneath some existing larger tree canopies and one larger specimen tree blocked a view of a neighbour on the rear boundary. Sculptural clipped forms hold the softer planting together, and allow a bit more colour and texture to be introduced. A bespoke overhead structure was designed to cover a new decked space catching the sun at the rear of the plot, and a simple lighting plan was put in place to make the whole garden feel magical at night.

The result is a more private and exciting retreat, space for our client and family to relax and enjoy the garden, but also a stunning view from within the house at all times of the year.
