When our clients moved into their newly built Cotswold home, the garden was little more than lawn and fencing. They wanted a space with atmosphere, comfort and versatility — a garden that felt stylish and characterful from the start.
Garden Design Brief
The brief called for a multifunctional garden that could be enjoyed year-round, offering a variety of spaces for entertaining, relaxing and everyday living. The design needed to soften boundaries, add planting depth and transform a bare plot into an inviting retreat.
Design Approach and Garden Layout
Working with the existing terrace and retaining wall, CGLA integrated these structural elements into the design. From there, a series of linked garden zones was created, each with its own character but connected by a clear sense of flow.
Layered planting was used to add texture, depth and privacy, helping the garden feel established despite its youth.
Key Features of This Stylish Garden
The firepit became the heart of the scheme — an intimate gathering space for cooler evenings that extends the usability of the garden well into autumn and winter. Contemporary lines are balanced by soft planting choices and natural textures, ensuring the garden feels both elegant and welcoming.
The result is a practical, stylish garden that transforms a blank plot into a cohesive outdoor living environment. Designed to evolve with time, it provides comfort, atmosphere and a strong sense of place in every season.
