Garden Redesign with Firepit & Outdoor Dining

Located in a quiet Beaconsfield neighbourhood, this small, north-facing garden needed a refresh to bring balance, structure, and better use of space. Overgrown planting at the rear had created a dark and tired feel, while the existing patio lacked the size and functionality needed for comfortable outdoor dining and entertaining. The design aimed to enhance symmetry while retaining key features of the existing garden.

A new, larger patio was introduced to provide a generous outdoor dining and seating area. A separate firepit space at the rear of the garden creates a cosy, enclosed retreat, connected to the main dining area by footpaths that wind through lush, cool-toned planting. Carefully placed specimen trees serve as focal points, bringing the entire composition together and enhancing the sense of structure.

Creating Symmetry & Defined Spaces

The design carefully balances structure with softness, introducing two symmetrical seating areas on either side of the central lawn. This provides a sense of order while maintaining a natural flow throughout the garden. The combination of defined pathways, layered planting, and opposing seating zones ensures a well-proportioned layout that feels both inviting and spacious.

Enhancing Atmosphere with Planting & Shade

The existing trees were complemented with new specimen plantings, chosen to enhance seasonal interest while working harmoniously with the shady conditions at the rear of the garden. A cool colour palette was selected to create a tranquil and refreshing atmosphere, ensuring that the garden remains a relaxing retreat throughout the year.

A Stylish & Functional Small Garden Transformation

This redesign maximises the potential of a compact outdoor space, introducing thoughtful zoning and structured planting while maintaining a welcoming, natural feel. The result is a well-balanced and practical garden that offers dedicated areas for dining, relaxation, and gathering around the firepit.
