This large arts and crafts style house in Gerrards cross had recently been renovated inside and this highlighted the dated feel of the landscaping. A patio on two levels had an unattractive shape and poor-quality paving, as well as lacking any protection at all from the baking sun that blasted the rear elevations.
The brief was to create a space that matched the quality of the house, featuring an outdoor kitchen, pergola dining area, stunning water feature and revised main patio/seating area, with a new level lawn space and steps leading to the sloped garden beyond.
The CGLA design team created a large contemporary patio space, with sett detailing and new retaining wall, leading to an outdoor covered kitchen area. A gorgeous Tristan Cockerill water feature brings scale and sound to the patio, and the rich perennial planting is anchored with evergreen shapes and grasses.
A woodland walk leads from the kitchen to the pergola dining area, which can also be accessed directly from the main patio.
The overall effect was planned to be contemporary but relaxed, suitable for elegant entertaining as well as quiet family time.
Once the designs were complete, the landscaping was carried out by the CGLA team, overseen at every stage by our Project Managers and Designers to check the installation was as planned and to capture the clients changes as the landscape emerged. Planting enhancements to the front garden and other parts of the rear garden have also been added over time to keep this garden looking as it should.
