This Beaconsfield garden began as a typical developer plot, with a large rectangular lawn, minimal planting, and an uninspiring patio. The space lacked structure, privacy, and seating areas that made full use of the sun throughout the day. The homeowners wanted a design that would transform the garden into a striking, functional, and relaxing outdoor space.
The new layout introduced a bold ‘frame’ feature positioned along a long axis from the kitchen doors, creating a strong visual connection between the house and the garden. This structure provides depth and balance while drawing the eye toward a carefully planted stand of silver birch trees, which screen neighbouring houses and add seasonal interest. Underplanted with grasses and allium bulbs, this area softens the framework and enhances the garden’s natural flow.
Elegant Hard Landscaping & Structural Planting
The existing patio was replaced with contemporary granite paving, extending into a secondary seating area and creating a frame around the long lawn. A water feature was added in a key position, visible from the main living areas, bringing a sense of calm with the gentle sound of flowing water.
The pergola enhances the secondary seating area, offering a partially shaded retreat surrounded by lush, colourful planting. This creates a welcoming and intimate space, balancing structured landscaping with soft greenery.
Lighting & Long-Term Care
Subtle lighting was introduced throughout the garden, ensuring it remains visually appealing both during the day and at night. With the house not overlooked, the lighting enhances key design features and extends the garden’s usability into the evening. An irrigation system was installed to support the extensive planting, ensuring long-term growth and vitality. The Cool Gardens Maintenance Team continues to oversee the garden’s care, allowing it to flourish year after year.
