This site is located in the heart of rural Sarratt, to the north of Rickmansworth in Hertfordshire.
Located in the heart of rural Hertfordshire, this garden was designed to create a well-structured and beautifully balanced landscape that enhances both the house and a newly built summerhouse. The goal was to establish a series of elegant and well-defined outdoor spaces, combining formal design elements with inviting functional areas for outdoor living.
A combination of curved hedging and structured planting lines provides a sense of order and symmetry, reinforcing the garden’s formal aesthetic. The design integrates a variety of seating areas, a pergola walkway, and carefully arranged planting to create a garden that is both visually striking and highly functional.
Defined Outdoor Spaces & Garden Zoning
The layout was designed to provide clear divisions between different areas, ensuring each space has its own purpose while contributing to the overall cohesion of the garden. A large seating and sun lounge area, along with dedicated barbecue and pizza oven spaces, creates an inviting setting for entertaining. The firepit area adds warmth and ambience, while the pergola enhances the sense of structure and enclosure.
Pergola Walkway & Romantic Swing Seat
A standout feature of the garden is the pergola walkway, which serves as a natural transition between the house and the summerhouse. Designed as both a focal point and a passageway, it provides a sense of movement while framing key views across the garden. A romantic swing seat has been incorporated into this structure, adding a sense of charm and relaxation to the space.
Evergreen Hedging & Textured Planting Scheme
Evergreen hedging plays a key role in defining the garden’s layout, enclosing different zones while also screening retaining structures to maintain a seamless and polished finish. The planting scheme is designed to provide year-round structure and seasonal interest, combining neatly trimmed hedges, winding pathways, and lush flower beds.
The use of high-quality materials such as brick, stone, gravel, and wood enhances the textural contrast throughout the garden, adding depth and character to the overall design.
